How was this even taken?

Tripod. High ISO Speed that allows a fast shutter speed and a camera that is good enough to counter act the grain (since its pretty dark and I don’t see much grain). And one lucky split second where the shutter happened to be pressed just as this happened. It’s like a shot of a lifetime.

I cannot count how many times I have reblogged this, and I will never pass up that opportunity. 

Wow. Just wow.

not really a fast shutter, or a high iso.  It would be way easier to have an extremely long shutter and get it all at once.  Timing that would literally be impossible with a high shutter speed.  BUT with a medium iso, high aperture, and a low shutter speed, you can just sit and wait ill the lighting goes off, then wham! beauty.  Not nearly hard as described above, though still hard to focus on the lighting, thats the difficult part.
